Welcome to the eiDB

!!! This is a test environment where you can test and try without affect real data.

The Electrical Interface Database (eiDB) is a web based data collection tool used to gather the electrical information and load data necessary for the components functionality.
The information stored here is used for wire harness design and as input to power management.

Request access to the eiDB SharePoint and find Users Guideline, Timeplan, FAQ, etc: eiDB SharePoint
Would you like to help us to improve the eiDB? Participate in the survey: eiDB survey

LDB-CEVT and eiDB:
Data objects with the project steerings (V316, V320, V323, CX11, CS11, CS12, CC11, CH11, DCY11, CX11HEV, CX11EU, CX11US) and future components that are agreed by PSS:s to be used in CMA needs to be secure in both databases for common CMA components and VCC CMA Tophat components, i.e. it needs to be filled in by the component owner in both servers (eidb.volvocars.biz and ldb.cevt.se) CEVT Tophat CMA components to filled in only in LDB (ldb.cevt.se)

Access to Cevt-LDB (new system Odoo): odoo.cevt.se
However all VCC users must apply for access at CEVT. To get access you should send an email to the Load DB administrator with the following information:

FAQ , How can I solve the issues I am facing when using the tool?

Why I don´t get any result from my search?

It is possible that you have any more filters selected. Remember to “Clear All Filters” (under Advanced Search) before you do a new options selection.

I have problems to initiate the Connector Request.

Probably some mandatory information is missing. Check if you have added all this information before you initiate the Connector Requests:

• Connector name

• Number of pins (cavities for the connector)

• Pin´s type of I/O. In case of pin not used it should be selected as type of I/O “Not used”

• For pins in use:

o Pin´s function description

o Plating

o pin parameters depending the type of I/O:

 for Resistive Load:

max SteadyState current Us@14V

inrush max peak current

inrush max peak time

 for Capacitive Load/ECU Power Input or Inductive Load:

max SteadyState current Us@14V

inrush current during activation/turn on of function/secondary load and graphics

 for Power Ground Load:

max SteadyState current Us@14V

• S-EDS Responsible (to be added in Gateways tab: click on “Edit”, add CDSID and “Save”)

• Drawing of component´s connection interface (pinheader or moulded interface). First of all, upload the file to Attachments tab. Then select it in the field in the Connector tab and "Save Connector".

I cannot fill out the component name when I create a new component.

The component´s name must exist in the system, new names can only be added by the eiDB Administrator. In case of you need a new name for your component, send a request by mail to eiDB Administrator (for more information see next question).
To add the name when you are creating your component, start filling the WDID (numbers in front of the name, e.g. 04_253) of the component name and select it from the options list.

I don´t find the proper name for my component.

In case of you cannot find any name that match with some of these characteristics (functionality, position, type) you can request a new component name by sending a mail to the eiDB Administrator with all the possible information about:
- Short component´s functionality description
- Position/s in the car, drawings or diagrams
- Project/s, platform
- Intro or due date to have it available in eiDB
- Name proposal

I need to change the type of I/O in one of the pins.

If you need to update the type of I/O you have to “Clear” the pin information (eraser symbol in the row of the pin) and fill it out again with the new type of I/O.

I cannot edit my component.

The component will not be editable if you have used the functionality “Get supplier information” unless the supplier “Submit” the information and the component owner “Accept” it. The component owner can in any moment “Revoke” the access for the supplier to the eiDB Supplier´s Portal and get back the edit permission, but the supplier could lose all work that he/she has done on it.
Another reason could be a wrong permissions assigment. Contact eiDB Administrator in this case.

I cannot fill out the harness connector part number.

It is not possible to fill out directly the harness connector PN in the field.
To change an existing harness connector PN (that has not be requested before) or add a new one it is necessary to initiate a Connector Request.
If Connector Request is already approved, you have to access the request in "Connector Request" tab and "Not Agree" the current approved PN adding as comments the reason and the new suggested PN.
Find information about the Connector Request in the eiDB Guideline for USERS.

I need to change the harness connector PN but I cannot suggest a new one.

In case you need to change a harness connector PN already approved you have to “Not Agree” the connector request. Go to the Connector Request tab and search for the request (use the e-tracker Number or filter by Status=Approved…) Add in comments the reason to disagree and the new suggested PN and click on “Not Agree”. This will re-initiate the connector request.

Can my supplier get access to fill out the eiDB?

You can send a request to your supplier who can directly fill out the component´s information in the eiDB Supplier´s Portal.
Click on “Get Supplier Information” and fill out the supplier´s email address. The supplier will get a mail notification with instructions for the registration and access to the eiDB Supplier´s Portal. The access should be always done through the link in the mail notification and with this mail address as login information.
The component will not be editable from eiDB unless the supplier “Submit” the information and the component owner “Accept” it. The component owner can in any moment “Revoke” the access for the supplier to the eiDB Supplier´s Portal and get back the edit permission, but the supplier could lose all work that he/she has done on it.

What happen if I forgot to save my changes?

Any change that has not been saved will be lost if the system close or you log out. This tool doesn´t perform an automatic save/update and the changes will not be possible to recover if they were not saved. Don´t forget to “Save”/”Save Connector” frequently.

Can I get back my component’s information if this one was removed?

No. Only general information from last time component was frozen will be possible to recover. It is as well, possible to track back last changes in component's information using "Delta Report".

Why I cannot >strong>update the CDSID of the System/Function Owner for my component.

The reason could be that he/she is not registered in eiDB yet. He/she should request access to eiDB via Self Service Portal

Where can I find a template with the list of required parameters to send to my supplier?

You can use the document in the link to request your supplier the information about your component that you can, later on, fill out in eiDB. The template includes one parameters table for each type of I/O. Supplier will have to fill out in the template one table for each pin, so can copy the tables in case of more than one pin of same type of I/O.
Electrical Interface Characteristics (NOTE-DESG-31868272-v2)

Why the changes that I have done in my connector are not updated?

The reason could be that you forgot the "Save Connector" (this button is close to the field "pins number"). It is not enough to "Save" on component level if you do changes in the connector general information (e.g. number of pins, connector name, connector PN, component-connector drawing, etc)

What should I specify in the Comments field?

Use the Comments field to complete the information about the component not related to any other field. For example,
- to provide description of the HW version/configuration,
- define the differences between the KDP part numbers (respective intro dates or projects),
- specify variants/pummels steering,
- to specify the FIC (Function Importance Classification),
- add extra contact information related to the AGILE structure (AGILETeam/ART),
- paste link to CARWEAVER system diagram/description (it will be a text with the address to be copied in the web browser),
- etc.

When is it necessary create a new entry/component ?

Only in case that the electrical interface or load characteristics, or that it needs a different name (due to different functionality or position in the car) than an existing entry/component, it becomes necessary to create a new component/entry in eiDB.
If there is a component located in different positions/functionalities in the car, all of them should be created (using the respective WDID-names) in eiDB even if they have exactly the same electrical description. It makes possible to extract the total number of components in a car by an Output Report.
Carry over components should be updated just adding the new project/s. In this case, it can be specified in comments the intro date for the component in the new projects.
The components no longer used that have been in production should have stated in EOP field the end of production date (YYwWW).
